TRIAL CHAMBER I (“The Chamber”) of the Special Court for Sierra Leone (“Special Court”) composed of Hon. Justice Benjamin Mutanga Itoe, Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Bankole Thompson and Hon. Justice Pierre Boutet;

SEIZED OF the Norman Defence Team Motion for Extension of Time to Seek Leave to Appeal against the Chamber Decision on the Registrar’s Submission of Evidence of Death of Accused Samuel Hinga Norman and Consequential Issues filed on the 24th of May, 2007;

CONSIDERING that Learned Counsel for the Norman’s Defence Team sought an extension of time from the 24th of May, 2007 until the 31st of May, 2007 in order to file an application to seek leave of the Chamber to appeal against that Decision;

NOTING that the Office of the Prosecutor indicated on the 24th of May, 2007 that it does not intend to file a response to this Motion;

HAVING CONSIDERED the submissions advanced in support of the Motion and ascertained that sufficient cause has not been shown to warrant the granting of the application;

PURSUANT to Rules 7bis and 54 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the Special Court;

RULES AS FOLLOWS:

1. THAT the arguments advanced by Learned Counsel in support of the Motion are not convincing;

2. THAT the Motion is accordingly dismissed in its entirety for want of merit.
